Never Dare to Dream
Once I thought….what did I think?
I do not know.
For then I had daydreams of a future.
I tried not but they sometimes ran away from me,
As daydreams are wont to do.
But each day brought a little more tarnish to the gilt
Until all that was left was a dull memory of what once was.
A reminiscence of a past that never shall be.
And I tried to make it shine again, washed it with my tears
As it crumbled to dust in my hands.
